Description
American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift role in a high-risk OB unit requiring at least 2 years of recent experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Short term acute care hospital setting with 418 staffed beds
- Labor and Delivery unit with High Risk OB focus, averaging 200-300 births per month
- Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 depending on acuity
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required if shift is cancelled
- Floating required to Postpartum and High Risk Antepartum units based on unit needs, and may include floating to sister facilities within the health system
- Epic EMR used for charting
- Scrubs provided for L&D; any color scrub otherwise
Requirements
- Active RN license, compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP
- Preferred certification: AWHONN Intermediate
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
- Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients
- Experience with fetal monitoring (EFM/NST) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage, couplet care, and pregnancy-induced hypertension management
- Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal resuscitation
- Must reside within a 50 mile radius of the facility to be considered a local candidate
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Must have reliable personal vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, and Postpartum units as needed
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and vaginal deliveries
- Perform neonatal care duties immediately following delivery including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
- Support patients through pain management including epidural anesthesia and nitrous oxide administration
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside the 50 mile radius
- Local candidates accepted at the applicable local bill rate
- No fee for parking at the facility
- Travelers may be asked to float to sister facilities in nearby areas, with additional incentive pay and mileage reimbursement for floating to certain locations
