Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Oncology RN with ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification for a day shift acute care hospital assignment.
Details
- Med/Surg Oncology unit in a short-term acute care hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Block scheduling required
- Floating between units and sister facilities may be required based on skill set
- No on-call responsibilities
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact must be in hand at time of submission)
- OR RN license required
- BLS certification required
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification required
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Experience with Autologous Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T therapy patients preferred
- Skilled in chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and continuous/oral infusion
- Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, and port/central line care
- Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Skilled in symptom management including nausea, neuropathy, dysphagia, and altered mental status
- Must have a vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
- Provide direct oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring for treatment-related complications
- Manage chest tubes, neutropenic precautions, and various oncology-related symptoms
- May float to sister facilities within the region based on staffing needs
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this block schedule position
- Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Any color scrubs accepted for this unit
- No parking fees at this facility
