Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II trauma center with EPIC EMR experience and prior travel assignment history required.

Details

• Level 1 trauma center with 16 operating suites, typically running 12-14 rooms
• 1:1 patient ratios with average caseload of 35-50 cases per day
• Turnover expectation of less than 20 minutes between cases
• Service lines include cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, and transplants with smaller volumes of ENT and plastics
• Utilizes 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes/Stryker equipment for ortho trauma
• Both scrub and circulating duties preferred
• Weekend call required from end of Friday shift until 0630 Monday
• Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Scrubs provided

Requirements

• Active RN license - Iowa or compact/multistate required at time of submission
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience required
• Circulating and operating room experience required, scrub experience highly preferred
• Required case experience in General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
• Highly preferred case experience in Neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and Vascular
• EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from supervisor/charge nurse/nurse manager/director within 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Hospital environment serving as a Level 1 trauma center with dedicated space reserved for trauma cases
• Candidates previously employed by the health system within the past 12 months may be disqualified from consideration
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• Required to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Limited to 1 day off request during the periods of 11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26 regardless of holidays worked
