Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II Trauma Center with required experience in general, robotics, pediatric, and trauma cases.

Details

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting, 16-bed capacity with 16 OR suites, typically running 12-14 concurrently
• Level I trauma center with reserved space for trauma cases
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30am to 7pm, 36 hours per week
• Additional weekend coverage as needed approximately every 4th weekend (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
• No on-call requirements
• Float required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with expected turnover times under 20 minutes
• Service lines include cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants, with smaller volumes of ENT and plastics
• Utilizes 3 da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker equipment for ortho trauma cases
• Both scrub and circulate responsibilities preferred
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience required, with hospital/medical center experience prioritized
• Circulating and operating room experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Required experience in General, da Vinci Robotics, Pediatric, and Trauma surgical cases
• Highly preferred additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, or C-suite within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Perform circulating and scrub duties across a high-volume, high-acuity surgical service line
• Scrubs are provided
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 15 months; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday periods
• Candidates who were previously employed by the health system (FTE or PRN) in another market within the past 12 months are not eligible, regardless of current facility
