Description
American Traveler is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring at least 2 years of recent L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital with 418 staffed beds
- High risk OB unit with facility birth volume of 200-300 per month
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 couplets
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 0300-1500
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required for scheduled shifts that are cancelled
- Floating to other units and sister facilities within the health system may be required based on skill set
- 48-hour work weeks approved
- Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- BLS and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with high risk antepartum, high risk delivery, and couplet care
- Skilled in fetal monitoring, IV therapy, and medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
- Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Must disclose any prior employment history with the health system, including permanent, travel, or per-diem work
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including antepartum monitoring, vaginal and cesarean delivery support, and newborn care
- Perform sterile vaginal exams, assist with high risk deliveries, and manage pain relief methods such as epidural anesthesia and nitrous oxide
- Support patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension
- Scrubs are provided for this unit
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day)
- Requested time off must be submitted upfront during the application process
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Radius rule of 50 miles applies for eligibility as a traveler
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
