Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit position requiring ACLS and NIHSS certification along with recent cardiac telemetry experience.
Details
- Step Down Unit (SDU/PCU/SCU) within an acute care hospital featuring a Level III NICU and county-designated trauma center
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Float to Med/Surg unit as needed
- Care includes managing patients post coronary intervention, permanent pacemaker placement, AICD placement, and stable acute coronary patients
- Utilizes Femostop device for femoral sheath removal management
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS certification from an approved vendor
- Current ACLS certification (AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS) required
- NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience within the last 2 years preferred
- Basic Dysrhythmia Course completion preferred
- Critical Care Course completion preferred
- Competent in medication administration, IV therapy including blood products, and care of indwelling catheters and drains
- Skilled in accurate ECG rhythm interpretation and emergency patient management
Additional Information
- Plans and provides nursing care for step down unit patients, including managing life-threatening emergencies
- Supervises and delegates care to ancillary personnel per scope of practice
- Verifies alarm settings with Monitor Technician according to policy
- Demonstrates knowledge of ECG lead functions and monitoring recommendations based on patient presentation
- Position represented by CNA (California Nurses Association)
- Candidates with more than 5 days of requested time off will be automatically declined
- Candidates with a prior disciplinary action on their license will not be considered
- Accepts local candidates at the same rate as travel candidates
- Travelers can only be submitted to one hospital within the Adventist Health system at a time
