Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on a Medical Stroke unit requiring at least 2 years of experience and WV or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit specializing in medical stroke care
• Unit flexes up to 35 beds with an average daily census of 26-28 patients
• Typical patient ratio of 1:5-6 with support from 3 PCTs
• Cares for patients with COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, occasional surgical overflow (thyroidectomy), and stroke cases post-TPA or lower acuity
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekends as scheduled

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• BSN not required for this position
• EPIC EMR experience highly preferred
• NIHSS certification or stroke experience a plus
• Travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for medical stroke and general med/surg patient population
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Facility allows client to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative one-year work period within WVU facilities before requiring a 2-year break
• All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
