Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level II Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care position requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.

Details

Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care unit within an acute care hospital setting
Level II nursery caring for neonates 32 weeks gestation and above
12 licensed SCN beds with an average census of 10 and typical staffing ratios of 3:1, occasionally 2:1 depending on acuity
Patient population includes infants on CPAP and High Flow, feeder growers, rule-out sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia cases
RNs are not required to titrate drips
Charge nurse manages the shift and attends high-risk deliveries, occasionally taking one low-acuity patient
PCT/HUC support staff available to assist with neonatal care
NNPs in house 24/7 with pediatrician on-call coverage
Cerner EMR used for charting
Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with self-scheduling
3 weekend shifts per month required (Friday or Saturday plus one Sunday)
One major and one minor holiday coverage required if falling within the assignment
No call or standby requirements
Required to float to sister facility Chandler Regional NICU
RNs start their own IVs; certified neonatal PICC team available for line placement

Requirements

Active AZ or Compact RN license required
BLS and NRP certifications required
Minimum of 2 years of Level II NICU experience required; Level III NICU experience preferred
Must pass a pass/fail sterile technique exam (foley catheter insertion) on Day 1 of orientation
Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
May not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past 12 months

Additional Information

Provide direct nursing care to neonates in a Level II Special Care Nursery and couplet care setting
Navy blue scrub color required
Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
Radius rule applies for eligibility, not just pay rate
