Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring EPIC experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Requirements

• Active VA RN license in hand at time of submission, or proof of compact license
• Current BLS certification required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience within the last year
• EPIC charting experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral and central line care, telemetry monitoring, and PPE/isolation precautions
• Preferred skills include port access, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, wound care, ostomy/feeding tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis care

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a combined medical-surgical and telemetry unit
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to emergencies as needed
• Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Perform wound care, ostomy care, and manage surgical drains as needed
• Keep requested time off (RTO) to a minimum, ideally no full calendar weeks off and no more than 7 total days
• Any RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed prior to starting
• Previous permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as a travel candidate
• Candidates cannot work concurrent travel and per diem contracts within the same health system
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
