Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Step Down Telemetry unit requiring VA or compact license, Epic experience, and 2 years of relevant nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit for thoracic, cardiac, and vascular (TCV) surgical patients
• Care for patients undergoing CABG, valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart/lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
• Unit includes 22 acute-care beds and 6 telemetry intermediate care unit (TIMU) beds
• Nurse-patient ratio is 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in TIMU
• TIMU cares for post-PACU or post-CVICU patients requiring advanced monitoring, including those on select cardiac drips and arterial lines
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week, but block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Must adhere to facility float policy
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA state or compact) required, pending license accepted
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide acute and intermediate-level nursing care to TCV surgical patients
• Monitor cardiac drips, arterial lines, and telemetry for step down patients
• Participate in specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed at time of submission
• Time off around July 4th cannot be approved
• No radius requirement for this unit
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Previous employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler, subject to leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
