Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Telemetry Stepdown unit requiring 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work on a 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit for thoracic, cardiac, and vascular (TCV) surgical patients
- Care for patients undergoing procedures such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart/lung transplant, limb amputation, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
- Unit includes 22 acute-care beds and 6 intermediate monitoring unit (TIMU) beds
- Nurse-patient ratio of 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in TIMU
- TIMU manages patients on select cardiac drips and arterial lines, including fresh lobectomies, TPA recipients, and post-CVICU transfers
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week, though block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Floating required per facility policy
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide acute and intermediate-level care to complex TCV surgical patients
- Collaborate with CVICU and PACU teams for patient transfers and post-op care
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract; no time off approved around July 4th
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have at least 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
