Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry Stepdown position on a TCV surgical unit requiring 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work on a 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit for Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular (TCV) surgical patients
- Care for patients undergoing CABG, cardiac valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart/lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
- Nurse-patient ratio of 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the Telemetry Intermediate Unit (TIMU)
- TIMU manages patients including fresh lobectomies, TPA recipients, AAA, CABG/valve, and lung transplant patients, some direct from PACU or CVICU
- TIMU accommodates select cardiac drips and arterial lines
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- BSN preferred
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for post-surgical TCV patients across acute and intermediate levels of monitoring
- Time off requests limited to a maximum of 40 hours per contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- No time off approved around July 4th
- Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
- No radius restriction for this unit
