Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry/Stepdown night shift position requiring VA or compact RN license, BLS, and 2 years of experience.
Details
- Work in a 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit for Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular (TCV) surgical patients
- Care for patients recovering from CABG, valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart/lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
- Nurse-patient ratio of 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the TIMU
- TIMU provides advanced monitoring for patients not requiring ICU-level care, including fresh lobectomies, TPA recipients, and post-op cardiac/thoracic transplant patients
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
- Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management skills required
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- BSN preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to TCV surgical patients in an acute or intermediate care setting
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange a realistic start date
- Previous UVA Health employment as permanent staff or traveler requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
- No radius rule applies to this unit
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position
