Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 10-week night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and a GA or Compact RN license.
Details
- Med/Surg unit setting with adult to geriatric patient population
- 32-bed unit with average daily census of 29 and 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication tools
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, nasal cannula and high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), IV therapy/phlebotomy, PICC line management, blood product administration, peripheral line care, and feeding tube management
- Telemetry/cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team experience preferred
- Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for a wide range of Med/Surg diagnoses including CVA, respiratory, and GI conditions
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum 7 days RTO per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of consideration and cannot be requested after offer, onsite, or during orientation week
- No RTO permitted during Spring Break blackout dates (April 4th-12th)
- Holiday coverage required: if 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested; if 3 major holidays occur, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be separated for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously not extended or DNR'd by a Piedmont facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
