Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Stepdown position requiring 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work on a 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit (22 acute-care beds, 6 IMU beds) for thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
  • Patient population includes CABG, cardiac valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart and lung transplant, limb amputation, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy cases
  • TIMU patients include fresh lobectomies, TPA recipients, AAA, CABG/valve, and lung transplant patients, some on cardiac drips and arterial lines
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in TIMU
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Must adhere to facility float policy

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
  • Nursys verification required

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry and stepdown level nursing care to TCV surgical patients
  • Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to plan an appropriate start date
  • Travelers must float within their scope of practice as needed
  • Previous employment as permanent staff or internal/external traveler requires 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
  • No radius rule applies to this unit
  • Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
