Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Telemetry Stepdown position on a Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular (TCV) surgical unit requiring VA or compact license and Epic experience.
Details
- Work on a 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit (22 acute-care beds, 6 IMU beds) serving TCV surgical patients
- Patient population includes CABG, cardiac valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart and lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy patients
- TIMU patients include fresh lobectomies, TPA recipients, AAA, CABG/valve, and lung transplant patients, some on select cardiac drips and arterial lines
- Nurse-patient ratio of 4-5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in TIMU
- Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week, though block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Every other weekend required, with 2 of the 3 winter holidays required
- Must adhere to facility float policy
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BSN preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry-level nursing care to acute and intermediate care TCV surgical patients
- Float within scope of practice as required by facility policy
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Disclose any planned time off between sign date and start date to establish a realistic start date
- Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or internal/external travelers) must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
- No radius restriction applies to this unit
