Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring a TN or compact RN license and at least one year of experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit caring for a general medical-surgical patient population, with additional MS/Tele, ortho, and renal caseloads
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:30-07:00) with 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 options
• Floating required across the facility
• Rotating weekends and rotating holidays required
• Required to use Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
• Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tubes preferred
• Neurological/psychiatric care experience including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and TBI preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry, and rapid response/code team participation required
• Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience preferred
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacement care experience preferred
• Pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management experience preferred
• Surgical drain management experience preferred
• Must complete Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing, with a maximum of two attempts allowed
• Must complete drug testing within 12-14 calendar days prior to start and be available for retesting if needed
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
• AHA certification is the only accepted form for BLS/ACLS

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within the Med/Surg unit alongside participation in nursing student clinical education and support
• General orientation begins on Sundays and includes online CBL modules averaging 4-5 non-billable hours
• Must reside 100 miles or more from the facility's service area; local candidates are not accepted
• Facility may cancel one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts above the committed schedule may be flexed as needed based on census
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
