Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Orthopedic Spine) position requiring at least 1 year of recent unit experience and an active SC or compact RN license.
Details
- 26-bed adult orthopedic spine unit specializing in post-surgical care for laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies
- Integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support for patients
- Patient population includes Med/Surg, Tele, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
- Performs special procedures including bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT angio, and heparin drips
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Day shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts total)
- Floating to other units or campuses required as needed, limited to areas of demonstrated competency
- EPIC EMR used, requiring at least 1 year of experience
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
- 1+ years of recent orthopedic experience required
- 1+ years of EPIC EMR experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Dysrhythmia certification preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive post-operative care for orthopedic spine surgery patients, including pain management and mobility support
- Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center located in a 641-bed regional teaching hospital
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted; radius rules apply for travel eligibility
- RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted for facility approval at time of booking
- Weekly Monday orientation and annual compliance modules required
