Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit, requiring a KY or compact RN license and BLS certification for a night shift assignment.

Details

• 37-bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit specializing in orthopedic, neuro, and spine patients
• Serves as a secondary stroke unit and cares for general cardiac/telemetry patients
• Receives patient transfers from PACU, ED, interventional areas, and direct admissions from MD offices
• Third shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7p-7a
• 36 hours per week at 0.9 FTE

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (KY or compact) required
• BLS certification required
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• No prior nursing experience required, though previous nursing experience is preferred
• Annual Dysrhythmia Competency Validation required
• NIHSS certification required within 3 months of hire
• ACLS certification required within 12 months of hire
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety devices
• Last 4 digits of SSN and MM/DD of date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document in accordance with RN scope of practice and hospital policy
• Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge activities, including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management
• Develop and prioritize patient problem lists in collaboration with the inter-professional team
• Implement patient care therapies and procedures within scope of practice, tailored to patient culture and age
• Delegate and oversee tasks performed by other care team members
• Identify and address patient education needs based on comprehension level
• Provide input on patient/nurse assignments based on staffing, unit activity, and patient acuity
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities, including patient satisfaction, falls, pressure ulcers, and CAUTI prevention
• Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
