Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Pediatric/Neonatal unit requiring 2+ years of PICU or Level 4 NICU experience and BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
Details
- Acute care setting within a Peds/Neonatal Respiratory Therapy department at a children's hospital
- Covers NICU or PICU areas with 20-25 treatments per day
- 12-hour day shifts with weekends and holidays as scheduled
- 6 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun)
- No floating required
- No call or standby call requirement
- Uses Hamilton and Servo ventilators, Respironics and Hamilton BiPAP, and Fisher Paykel HFNC equipment
- Utilizes Epic EMR
- Unit staffs approximately 8 RTs per shift with hospitalist/intensivist coverage in house
Requirements
- RRT preferred; CRT not specified as acceptable
- Minimum 2 years experience in PICU and/or Level 4 or greater NICU
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- License required if applicable
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
- Copies of certifications and driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required, including 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer reference
Additional Information
- Performs all aspects of respiratory care including aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, NAVA therapies, airway management, and intrahospital transport
- Assists with intubation only; independent intubation not required
- Department-specific orientation provided, with timeframe dependent on prior experience
- Scrub color/dress code is stone/light gray
- Candidates must live outside a 50-100 mile radius depending on specific facility to qualify as a traveler
- Returning travelers to any WVU Medicine facility must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine facilities for longer than one year without taking a required 2-year break
- Former permanent staff at certain WVU facilities are not eligible to return as travelers
- All candidates interview directly with the hiring manager
