Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a CO or compact RN license in a Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital.
Details
- Acute care Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
- MS-Tele Float pool covering multiple specialty units including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs
- Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses spanning post-surgical, general medicine, psych/detox, ENT, and long-term placement patients
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
- RNs required to titrate Heparin drips
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a)
- 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6 week schedule
- May be required to float into ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units
- May be asked to participate in Holiday Rotation
- Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
- Nurse aids and respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) available on units
- Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment
Requirements
- Active RN license, State or Compact (NLC) for CO required
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele nursing experience required
- Prior neuro experience preferred
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across a variety of med/surg and telemetry specialty units as part of a float pool
- Travelers expected to remain flexible to fill gaps in permanent staff scheduling
- All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
- 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided with a preceptor
- Any scrub color permitted per dress code
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel positions
- Candidates must be in-state for orientation week, though initial modules may be completed remotely
- First-time travelers may be considered
