Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring AWHONN Advanced certification and independent expertise in sterile vaginal exams.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 320 staffed beds
• Labor and Delivery unit
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Weekend work required, likely exceeding every other weekend to meet unit needs
• Float requirement to Mother Baby unit
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Meditech for charting
• Free parking available

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• 2 years of L&D experience required (candidates with 1.5-2 years may be considered depending on experience)
• Certifications required: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to independently perform sterile vaginal exams and OB triage without supervision
• Expert-level Labor and Delivery skills required
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and newborn care immediately after birth
• Skilled in fetal monitoring including external and internal methods, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care protocols
• Medication administration experience including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives required
• Must be open to working 3 of 5 major holidays
• All RTO requests must be submitted and approved prior to start of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius before returning as a traveler
• Scrub color for RNs is royal blue, with scrubs provided for L&D/OR staff
