Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring expert-level independent sterile vaginal exam skills and AWHONN Advanced certification.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit in a 320-bed acute care hospital
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Every other weekend required, may exceed to meet unit needs
- No on-call responsibilities
- Float to Mother Baby unit required
- Uses Meditech for charting
- Free parking available
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required (candidates with 1.5-2 years may be considered)
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to perform sterile vaginal exams independently without supervision
- Expert-level Labor and Delivery experience required, including triage of obstetrical patients
- Skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulation/scrubbing/recovery, and forceps/vacuum extraction
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal EFM, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC placement/calibration
- Experience administering medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including newborn care and APGAR scoring
- Support high-risk obstetric complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Provide breastfeeding and lactation support following baby-friendly protocols
- RN scrub color is Royal Blue; L&D/OR scrubs are provided
- Must be open to working 3 of 5 major holidays
- Facility may call off shifts once per two-week pay period
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after 3 months, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO must be submitted at time of application; minimal RTO requests are preferred to avoid delays
