Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Level 4 NICU setting within a children's hospital
• Variable day/night or straight night shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
• Weekend availability required with full scheduling flexibility
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to PICU, CVICU, and Med Surg units
• Floating may also be required to NICU satellite campuses (Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy)
• Mileage reimbursed when floating to locations other than home base facility
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand, or documented ETA of licensure posting
• Current certifications: BLS and Advanced NRP required; PALS preferred
• 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience required
• Will consider strong Level 3 NICU candidates with surgical experience from a facility performing newborn surgeries
• Cardiac experience required
• Must have own transportation
• Experience required with oscillator, conventional ventilator, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes
• Must be comfortable managing multiple drip line changes and providing pre/post-op care
• Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) required
• Experience with high-risk delivery attendance, IV therapy, central/implanted line care, and IV vasopressors preferred

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neonatal patients, including surgical and cardiac cases
• Facility is a Magnet-recognized, Level 1 trauma teaching hospital named among the Top 10 Best Children's Hospitals in the Nation
• Scrub color is not restricted
• Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including holiday eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, with no holiday RTO allowed
• Maximum RTO of 6 days permitted
• Strong first-time travelers with Level 4 NICU experience will be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
• Travelers who reach their one-year mark must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
• Free traveler parking provided
