Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 3 years of NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Level III/IV NICU unit caring for neonates from 23-24 weeks gestation through 34+ weeks
- 77-bed unit with an average census of 50
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Cares for neonates requiring CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency vents, oscillators, and ventilators (no ECMO)
- Performs blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket therapy, feeding tube management, and PICC/central line care
- Attends high risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
- Rarely floats due to high unit need, but may float to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or to Pediatrics/NBN for newborn care only
- Open to floating between sister facilities as needed
- Block scheduling available, including 3 or more shifts in a row
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at submission
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience (Level III for 3 years or Level IV for 2 years required)
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Skilled in IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, central/implanted line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and placement/management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
- Experience administering medications including emergency medications
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for submission
Additional Information
- Provides direct neonatal care including admissions rarely, as unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer requests may not be granted
- Former Providence permanent employees must be separated from the health system for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
- Former Providence permanent employees must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities (permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem)
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for this role
