Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Level III NICU RN for a night shift position requiring NRP certification and 2+ years of NICU experience.

Details

Level III/IV NICU setting
Patient ratio of 1:3
Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
Weekend requirement of 3 out of every 6-week scheduling period
Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
BSN preferred
2+ years of Level III NICU experience required
Current BLS and NRP certifications required
Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can be pending at submission)
Epic charting experience required
Experience with neonatal specialty skills including high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, UAC/UVC care, therapeutic hypothermia, central line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
Two professional references required
Copies of all required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care to Level III/IV NICU patients including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
Perform specialized procedures such as assisting with lumbar punctures, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and phlebotomy
Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per contract; no time off approved during the first two weeks of assignment
Previous UVA permanent staff or traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
No radius rule applies to this position
