Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital requiring 4+ years of experience.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy department in an adult critical care and emergency department setting
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of 3 winter holidays
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- BLS required; ACLS and ACCS preferred
- VA state license required (license required if applicable); pending license accepted only if in hand by the Wednesday before start date and candidate holds another active state license
- Minimum 4 years of experience required, though candidates with 2+ years will be considered
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- BSN preferred
- Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Experience with airway management including intubation/extubation assist, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Experience administering respiratory medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, and inhaled steroids
- Experience with arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill adult patients including ventilator management, airway care, and medication delivery
- Perform chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene, and tracheostomy management
- Support patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
- Complete specialty-specific modules during orientation, recorded in Workday
- Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval to return
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
- Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed prior to submission
- No radius rule applies to this position
- Nursys license verification required at submission
