Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and at least 1 year of NICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the NICU and Pediatric Critical Care units of a children's hospital
  • Level 4 NICU setting with neonatal and pediatric patient population
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
  • Option for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
  • Float within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • RRT certification required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • VA state license required if applicable, pending license accepted if candidate holds another state license and can obtain temporary VA license before start
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
  • Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Epic experience required
  • Two professional references required

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients including high-frequency oscillator and jet ventilator management
  • Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
  • Administer medications via nebulizer, MDI, and aerosol delivery systems
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) as part of clinical duties
  • Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, BPD, respiratory distress syndrome, and cystic fibrosis
  • Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
  • Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning as a traveler
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
  • First-time travelers may be considered
