Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and at least one year of NICU/PICU experience.

Details

  • Level IV NICU unit within a children's hospital setting
  • Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • 36 or 48 hour scheduling options available
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required, must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
  • Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules are not guaranteed
  • Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
  • Level IV NICU experience required
  • PICU experience required, Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • BLS, NRP, and RRT certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • VA state license required, license required if applicable
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic experience required unless otherwise noted
  • Two professional references required at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients including high-frequency oscillator and jet ventilator management
  • Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
  • Administer medications via nebulizer, MDI, and aerosol delivery systems
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) as part of patient care
  • Assist in high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
  • Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, BPD, RDS, and cystic fibrosis
  • First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience
  • Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed at time of consideration
