Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring at least 1 year of NICU experience.
Details
- Work in the NICU at a children's hospital
- Level 4 NICU setting with cardiac PICU experience preferred
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required, with every other holiday including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required, Level 4 NICU experience required
- PICU cardiac experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, RRT
- PALS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- VA state license required, license required if applicable
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required unless otherwise noted
- Skilled in neonatal/pediatric equipment including bubble CPAP, CPAP/BIPAP, high frequency jet ventilator, oscillating ventilator, and various oxygen delivery methods
- Experience with airway management, intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care/management
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 4 NICU
- Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
- Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and respiratory distress syndrome
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
- Participate in ventilator management including high frequency jet and oscillator ventilation
- Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract
- Disclose any planned time off between sign date and start date
- Previous UVA Health employees must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval to return
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching that limit
- No radius restriction for this unit
