Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU night shift position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and NICU/PICU experience.

Details

• Work in a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a children's hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours weekly
• Every other weekend and every other holiday, with a requirement to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Cares for neonatal and pediatric patients, including high-risk deliveries and interdepartmental transports
• Utilizes equipment such as Bubble CPAP, high frequency jet ventilator, oscillating ventilator, and CPAP/BIPAP
• Performs airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required, Level 4 NICU experience required
• PICU cardiac experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• PALS and ACCS preferred
• VA state license required, license pending accepted if in-hand before start date (license required if applicable)
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in ABG interpretation, medication delivery systems, and pulmonary hygiene

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 4 NICU
• Administer medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, and inhaled steroids as needed
• Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, cystic fibrosis, BPD, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and bronchoscopies
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employment as permanent staff or traveler requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days
• First-time travelers may be considered
