Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring NICU and PICU experience.
Details
- Work in the NICU and Pediatric Critical Care units of a children's hospital
- Level IV NICU setting
- Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required, with a requirement to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules cannot be guaranteed
- Float within scope of practice as needed
- Cares for patients requiring high frequency jet ventilation, oscillating ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and Nitric Oxide therapy
- Performs neonatal transports, intubation assist, and high-risk delivery support
- Manages tracheostomy care, airway suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
- Level 4 NICU experience required
- PICU Cardiac experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- RRT, BLS, and NRP certifications required
- PALS and ACCS certifications preferred
- VA state license required; pending license accepted only if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date and candidate holds an active license in another state
- BSN preferred
- Epic experience required
- Two professional references required
- Copies of all required certifications required for consideration
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy care to neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level IV NICU and pediatric critical care setting
- Interpret arterial blood gases and manage ventilator settings for critically ill infants and children
- Administer aerosolized and inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, and Nitric Oxide
- Participate in specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- No radius restriction for this unit
- Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or travelers) must disclose prior employment; a 12-month separation period is required to return
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
- First-time travelers not accepted for this position
