Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and NICU experience.

Details

• Work in the NICU and Neuro Diagnostics unit at a children's hospital
• Level 4 NICU patient population with preferred cardiac PICU experience
• Day shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00-19:00
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model that does not guarantee desired shifts
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required, PICU and Level 4 experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• PALS and ACCS preferred
• VA state license required, license pending accepted if candidate holds another state license to obtain temporary license before start (License required if applicable)
• Epic experience required for SRO Float Pool and Inpatient Units
• Skilled in neonatal/pediatric respiratory equipment including CPAP/BiPAP, oscillating ventilator, high frequency jet ventilator, and intubation assistance
• Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI, nebulizers, and aerosol setups
• Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, and BPD
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Two professional references required
• Copies of all required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 4 NICU setting
• Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Assist in high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
• Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
• Participate in specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• No radius rule for this position
• Previous UVA Health employees must have 12 months separation and leadership approval to return
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching that limit
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
