Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position requiring 1 year of cath lab experience and rotating call coverage.
Details
- Acute care setting in a Cardiac Cath Lab with 3 procedure suites, each staffed by 2 RAD techs and 2 RNs
- Average of 13 cases per day, including Dx & interventional procedures, PCI, TEEs, balloon pumps, pacers, event recorders, and defibrillators
- RN responsibilities include sedation, circulating, prep, IV placement, and overall patient care (RNs do not scrub)
- RAD techs scrub in and assist the physician; nurse or RAD tech may document pre and post care in Epic
- Day shift currently 5x8-hour shifts, transitioning to 4x10-hour shifts, with staggered start times (0700-1530, 0800-1630, 0900-1730)
- Call coverage required every 3rd night and every 3rd weekend, with EP coverage expected
- Call response time is 30 minutes
- On-call coverage is 24/7, supported by an interventional cardiologist after hours and a diagnostic cardiologist on call
- Holiday coverage is fulfilled through the call schedule
- Uses Epic EMR and CUPID for scheduling and schedule board
- Utilizes Volcano and Impella equipment
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of cath lab experience required
- Prior travel experience highly preferred
- Unexpired driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Charge nurse and manager jointly run the daily board
- Unit-specific orientation lasts 1-2 days
- Scrubs (light blue) are provided; candidates must supply their own shoes, with shoe covers provided
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility, and local candidates are not accepted
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers are limited to a cumulative one-year work period within WVU facilities, after which a 2-year break is required
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
