Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry competency and NE or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 55-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown)
• Primarily adult patient population with rare pediatric cases aged 15 and older
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4 on both day and night shifts
• 12-hour night shifts from 1830-0630 with every other weekend required
• Floating required, ideally to Medical-Surgical areas based on highest need
• Uses EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness
• Common medications/drips include PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin
• Mechanical lifts available in every other room
• Charge nurse and nursing assistant support available on the unit
• Additional support staff includes educators, care managers, social workers, dietitians, PT, and OT

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry competency required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

• Focus on hourly rounding and patient responsiveness
• Join a tight-knit unit known for strong teamwork and mutual support
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs, ceil blue for CNAs
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• RNs must pass an open-book skills exam with a 90% or higher during orientation
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
