Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- 28-bed Med-Surg/Family Medicine unit within a Trauma Level III, teaching hospital
- Adult patient population 65 and older with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, Delirium, Dementia, UTI, PNA, Flu, and Wounds
- RN patient ratio of 1:5-6 on days and nights, with surge staffing potentially increasing to 1:7-8
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to other units and facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed, within scope of practice
- EMR: Epic
- Equipment includes BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Patient Safety Net monitors, Hoyer lift, Sara Stedy, and Air Tap System
- Remote telemetry monitoring available for patients with tele ordered
- Charge RN coverage 24/7, with CNA, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RR/Code team, RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist support
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Skilled in PIV starts, IV med administration, wound care, pain management, patient/family education, care coordination, and initial and ongoing patient assessments
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and labs, implementing and evaluating care plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary departments
- Travelers will be first to float to other nursing units based on patient care needs and staffing demands
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Scrub color for RNs is navy blue
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted due to the 50-mile radius rule
- Candidates must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position
