Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring cardiac surgery skills and an IN or Compact RN license.
Details
- CVICU unit within a short-term acute care hospital with 210 staffed beds
- Mixed acuity unit spanning ICU to PCU level care
- Largest patient population is CV and Thoracic surgery patients including CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS
- Additional patient populations include flex acuity Med/Surg, Progressive, and ICU cardiovascular and oncology patients
- ICU ratios of 1:2, with rare AA ratios of 1:3-4
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby
- All private rooms with overhead lifts and telemetry equipment
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 18 months of recent experience required
- Cardiac skills experience is a hard requirement
- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with post cardiac surgery care (directly or indirectly from OR)
- Experience with CABG and TAVI/TAVR procedures
- Arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care/management experience required
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
- Preferred experience with IABP, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, sheath removal, and ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD/Impella)
- Preferred experience with ventilated patient care and ventilator management
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- 2 supervisor references required
- Nursing school must be ACEN or CCNE accredited at time of graduation
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients
- Scrub color requirement: black bottoms and red top
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health require a designated break to reset eligibility
