Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Urology/Nephrology unit requiring an active IL RN license and 2+ years of med/surg nursing experience.
Details
- Med/Surg unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology in an acute care hospital
- 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 and a 1:6 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (1845-0715)
- Works every other weekend
- May be required to work Charge as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to other Medical Surgical units within the hospital or nearby affiliate facilities
- Cerner EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required (in hand or in application process)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
- Previous Charge nurse experience required
- Cerner charting system experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Experience administering Heparin
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and oral suctioning
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
- AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
Additional Information
- Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
- Provide direct patient care to urology and nephrology med/surg patients
- Any solid color scrubs permitted
- Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome if they have a solid foundation in med/surg nursing
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
- Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are not accepted
