Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for night shift in a busy internal medicine unit requiring MO or compact RN licensure and prior Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Work in a 57 max-capacity Medical Specialties unit servicing internal medicine patients with a wide range of diagnoses
• Rooms feature video monitoring, sitter rooms, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations
• Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Average patient ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, with occasional increases to 1:6 days and 1:7 nights
• Mandatory floating to MS and MS/Tele units, including duties as a Patient Observer/Sitter when needed
• Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, though 1.5 years may be considered for quality candidates
• Med/Surg unit experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills such as IV therapy, wound care, PICC line management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management preferred
• Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
• Must be able to work in an environment with routine exposure to contagious illnesses

Additional Information

• Provide direct medical-surgical nursing care within a high-acuity internal medicine unit
• Required to work 50% of holidays falling within the contract period, with flexibility on which holidays are worked
• Rotating shifts, weekend work, and inclement weather coverage required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate
• Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation requirements
