Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on a Trauma and General Surgery unit requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience.
Details
- 28-bed Med/Surg unit focused on Trauma and General Surgery
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6
- Float required to adult MS Cluster and MS/Tele units
- Cerner charting preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required, CMSRN preferred
- 1.5-2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/PICC line management preferred
- Experience with chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry preferred
- Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
- Experience with ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and peripheral nerve block catheters preferred
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
- Experience with pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical specialties unit treating trauma and general surgery patients
- Must work 50% of holidays falling within the contract period
- Rotating shifts, weekend work, and work during inclement weather may be required
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate
- Position is within a 24/7 healthcare facility with routine exposure to contagious illnesses
- Mandatory floating applies to all travelers, including potential Patient Observer/sitter duties
