Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• MS/Tele Float Pool role covering acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
• Patient population includes Ortho/Neuro-Stroke and Cardiac Tele cases with high volume peripheral nerve catheter use on ortho floors
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
• Float within scope to meet facility needs, including split shifts (8 hours in one area, 4 hours in another)
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II trauma facility
• Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; no first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with insulin drip titration required
• Strong ortho/neuro skills required
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• BSN preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across MS/Tele, Ortho trauma, Cardiovascular, and Endocrine/Metabolic patient populations
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and pre/post neurosurgery care
• Manager prefers to avoid scheduling travel pairs
• Solid color scrubs accepted; facility also provides light blue scrubs for OR use
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate with no radius restriction
• RTO must be minimal and cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment or during orientation week
• No RTO permitted on Christmas
• Holiday coverage requires working 2 holidays (eve/day), with 1 of 3 major holidays off
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
