Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details
- MS/Tele Float Pool role covering acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
- Patient population includes Ortho/Neuro-Stroke and Cardiac Tele cases with high volume peripheral nerve catheter use on ortho floors
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
- Float within scope to meet facility needs, including split shifts (8 hours in one area, 4 hours in another)
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II trauma facility
- Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; no first-time travelers accepted
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with insulin drip titration required
- Strong ortho/neuro skills required
- Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
- BSN preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across MS/Tele, Ortho trauma, Cardiovascular, and Endocrine/Metabolic patient populations
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and pre/post neurosurgery care
- Manager prefers to avoid scheduling travel pairs
- Solid color scrubs accepted; facility also provides light blue scrubs for OR use
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate with no radius restriction
- RTO must be minimal and cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment or during orientation week
- No RTO permitted on Christmas
- Holiday coverage requires working 2 holidays (eve/day), with 1 of 3 major holidays off
- Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
