Description
American Traveler is hiring an Oncology RN for a Magnet teaching hospital, requiring a CT/Compact license, chemotherapy certification, and Level I Trauma experience.
Details
- Inpatient Oncology unit within a 186-bed Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- 3x12-hour Day shifts, 0700-1930
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Epic charting system used
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience required (1.5 years accepted for Level I Trauma or travel experience)
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Epic experience required
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- LTAC experience preferred
- Travel experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line care
- Experience administering chemotherapy via multiple routes (IV push, continuous infusion, oral)
- Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, extravasation)
- Experience with biotherapy and immunotherapy administration preferred
- Bone marrow transplant and CAR-T experience preferred
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others)
- Skilled in psychosocial care including hospice, advanced directives, and patient/family education
- Skilled in symptom management (nausea, neuropathy, altered mental status, edema)
- Experience with pain management including PCA pumps and IV push narcotics
- Wound care and post-surgical care experience
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to oncology patients across a wide range of diagnoses and treatment modalities
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood product administration
- Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies and abnormal lab values
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including pediatric team when applicable
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemption only
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
- Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
