Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift role requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• Emergency Department setting serving a combined adult/pediatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, totaling 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday and Saturday nights)
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Orientation held every Monday

Requirements

• Active RN license, MD or compact license required
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• CPI and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Skilled in general emergency department care for combined adult/pediatric populations

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of clinical presentations including pediatrics, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and trauma cases
• Perform skills such as IV therapy, EKG interpretation, splinting, and triage
• Experience with critical care medications and interventions such as vasopressors, sedation, and dysrhythmia management preferred
• Scrubs not provided; required color is royal blue
• Local candidates accepted within 60 miles at a lower rate
• Candidates must reside within 60 miles to qualify for local status, with address verified against driver's license
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; RTO limited to 7 days per 13-week contract and must be submitted upfront
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
