Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Telemetry RN with CA licensure for a busy 22-bed acute care unit requiring 2-3 years of specialty experience.

Details

  • Acute care Neuro Tele unit (4West) with 22 beds, Trauma Level 2 facility
  • Patient population includes stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI, and mixed med tele cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • 12-hr night shifts, 6:45pm-7:15am, self-scheduling by seniority available
  • Weekend requirement of Fri/Sat nights, 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Floating required to IMCU (2West) or Med/Surg departments, with travelers first to float
  • Central telemetry monitoring supported by 2 Monitor Techs using GE Apex Telemetry boxes
  • 1-2 Unit Aides on staff; Charge Nurse/Resource RN do not take patient assignments
  • Respiratory equipment includes Bipap, CPAP, and HFNC (no vents)
  • Navy scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) before offer confirmation
  • Pass/Fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes required on first day of orientation
  • 2-3 years of recent experience in Neuro Telemetry required
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • COVID vaccine required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for neuro and mixed telemetry patients in a consistently busy, near-capacity unit
  • Strong emphasis on Bedside Shift Report, Patient Experience, HCAHPS scores, and core stroke measures
  • One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Holiday coverage required as part of the standard staff rotation
  • Candidates should be self-motivated, team-oriented, and invested in the facility's mission and values
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Facility is described as very traveler-friendly
  • Candidates who failed Relias or sterile technique testing twice are ineligible for 6 months at CommonSpirit Sacramento region and Arizona facilities
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year

Great hospital. Kind and friendly staff.

Cons

The cafeteria is a hit and miss. Some days they have great sea food with saffron rice! Some days microwaved food :D. But there is alwaaaaays, pizza available ;)
