Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown unit position requiring KY or compact license and 2 years of specialty experience.
Details
- Stepdown/PCU unit caring for cardiac telemetry, neurological, and post-surgical patients
- 1:5 patient ratio
- Meditech charting system experience preferred
- Rotating 36/48 schedule with alternating 3x12 and 4x12 day shifts (7:00-19:30), totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
- Every other weekend required
- Float required within scope of practice
- Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
Requirements
- Active RN license (KY or Compact) in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AVADE Level I & II preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required, with 3-6 months Level IV Trauma or above
- Skills required include IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- 2 professional references required (1 Charge or higher, 1 supervisor), completed within the last year
- Copy of unexpired driver's license required, with address matching permanent address
- Middle name required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide care to patients requiring cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, renal/genitourinary care, and neurological/psychiatric interventions
- Manage cardiac drips without titration and administer medications including heparin protocols and PCA
- Monitor chemotherapy administration and manage wound care/wound vac as needed
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; medical and religious exemptions considered case-by-case
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Up to 7 days of RTO considered if presented upfront with no changes accepted
- Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday period
- Only local candidates within 75 miles of the facility will be accepted
- Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
- Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after working one year before returning to this system
- First-time travelers considered based on relevant experience level
