Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN for a night shift teaching hospital assignment requiring PALS certification and at least 1 year of PICU experience.
Details
- Pediatric ICU (PICU) unit within a teaching hospital setting
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30), with 3x12 or 4x12 travelers accepted
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Epic charting system preferred
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating required
- Bi-weekly orientations
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required (2 years highly preferred)
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Proficiency in respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and GI patient care skills as detailed for PICU population
- Experience with ventilator management, arterial line management, and pediatric dosage calculations preferred
- 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients including respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and GI support
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with no exemptions
- First-time travelers welcome to apply
- RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
- Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must disclose employment history and must not have been a permanent employee within the past 6 months
- Up to three absences allowed per 13-week contract; excessive tardiness or no call/no show may result in contract review
