Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Surgical Specialty Unit position requiring med-surg experience and KS or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 20-bed private room Surgical Specialty Unit
• Patient ratios of 4:1 total patient care, or 5:1 with a patient care tech
• Unit staffed with approximately 4-5 nurses and 1 patient care tech per shift
• Uses Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural pumps, Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine, telemetry, EKG, bladder scanner, wound vacs, capnostream machines, and SCD pumps
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Schedule includes every 3rd weekend and two Mondays and Fridays per 4-week scheduling period
• 12-hour shifts from 7A-7P
• Float to like medical/surgical/telemetry units including ortho neuro center, med/tele, 4N, and CDU
• High-paced unit environment

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent med-surg experience required
• Understanding of post-operative care required
• Experience with ostomy management and irrigation, NGT placement and management, Foley catheter placement and maintenance, central line management, JP drains, wound management, IV starts, blood administration, and nutritional supplementation including TPN and G/J tubes
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Unit recognized as HCA Unit of Distinction for Med-Surg in 2021
• Facility holds Center of Excellence certification in Colorectal and Robotics surgery and MBSAQIP certification in Bariatric surgery
• Required uniform of royal blue tops and black or royal blue bottoms
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
