Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift role requiring 2 years of experience and Epic charting proficiency.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
- 1:6 patient ratio
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), with 36 or 48 hour options available
- Weekend shifts required
- Float required to like units within scope based on facility needs
- Epic charting system experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
- BLS certification required
- 2 years of experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, oxygen administration, and nasal cannula
- Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
- Experience managing CVA patients
- Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Experience with surgical drains
- Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote) and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with total joint replacement care
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response support
- Brief unit orientation provided for float assignments
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; locals not accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No travel pairs or groups accepted
- RTO must be requested at time of consideration, with a maximum of 4 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
