Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring adult critical care and emergency department experience.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy department in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
- Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1800-0630)
- Works every other weekend
- On-call required as needed for the department
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active RRT and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Active Illinois license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
- Experience in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings required
- Airway management skills required, including endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement/suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care/suctioning
- Nebulizer skills required, including hand held, T-piece, and trach collar
- Oxygen therapy skills required, including bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, T-piece, trach collar, and Venturi masks
- Ventilator management skills required, including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Cerner charting experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
- Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Ideally no more than 5 days of requested time off
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Any solid color scrubs permitted
- Parking permit required at no cost, completed during orientation
