Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 1 year of PCU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 255 staffed beds
• PCU/Telemetry unit caring for acutely ill adult patients with cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and other diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Every other Saturday required, with Sundays off
• Uses Meditech charting system (experience preferred)

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and cardiac drip management preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry preferred
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy management preferred

Additional Information

• Coordinate direct patient care and provide patient education on a busy PCU/Telemetry unit
• Care for patients with a wide variety of acute medical conditions including cardiac, neuro, and renal issues

• Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Prior perm employment with the facility within the last 24 months disqualifies candidates
• RTO expectations scale with number of holidays falling within the assignment (work one of two, two of three, etc.)
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• Zero-tolerance drug policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards
• Fit testing required, including shaving facial hair unless a medical exemption is approved in advance
